Craig Page, Vice President and Legislative Counsel, CLTA, issued the
following statement in response to the election of Steve Poizner as
Californias new Insurance Commissioner.
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Nov. 8 // --
"The California Land Title Association (CLTA) would like to
congratulate Mr. Poizner on his election as Californias next Insurance
Commissioner. Mr. Poizner brings to the office a balance of private sector
experience as a successful businessman as well as his invaluable public
service in Washington D.C. during the difficult times following the 9-11
attacks.
"The CLTA looks forward to working cooperatively with the new
Commissioner so that consumers continue to benefit from low prices and the
highly competitive nature of the title insurance industry in California.
"The CLTA and its members are committed to working with Mr. Poizner to
develop proposals that further benefit consumers such as marketing reforms,
improved statutory disclosures, and consumer access to competitive rates
via the Internet."
The California Land Title Association (CLTA) is a non-profit
corporation founded in 1907, representing member title companies throughout
the state of California. The Associations membership is comprised of title
insurance companies and underwritten title companies conducting business in
the state. The goals of the CLTA include: expediting the transfer and
insurance of title to real property throughout California, increasing the
publics awareness of the value and purpose of title insurance, and
finally, protecting private property rights.
